Toku Tuesday #32 – Kamen Rider Rumor Mill

Posted by Zasalamel on June 22, 2010

Today will be short and sweet. Kamen Rider W has been pretty cool this year, but all good things eventually come to an end, and W‘s end is on the horizon. That means a new Rider will soon step up. But who?

Let the speculation begin…

2010 new Kamen Rider

Is this the new Rider: "O's"?

E3 2010: Sony Press Conference Impressions

Posted by Zasalamel on June 21, 2010

This year, I’ve missed all big events due to having to work and go to class and crap. Thankfully, the good folks at IGN and G4 were streaming and are archiving all the industry media conferences. Nintendo even went the extra mile to stream its showcase as well while providing exclusive content on its own E3 website (similar to the not-so-secret E3 media site from last year).

Next up for my series of E3 Impressions is Sony. You can watch the press conference for yourself right here; it is also available on IGN. The overall verdict is very similar to the impression I got from Microsoft; Sony played it safe. The difference for me is that Sony showed off some games and content that actually mattered to me, or rather, content that I could get excited about. Kinect is great and all, but Move seems to have the games that would hold my attention.

E3 2010: Nintendo Press Conference Impressions

Next up for my series of E3 Impressions is the “Big N”. You can watch the press conference for yourself right here on Nintendo’s E3 site; it is also available on G4 and IGN. I think Nintendo really brought it this year. It had to with Kinect and Move entering the market, dropping sales numbers, and the general distaste for the loads of shovel-ware released for the Wii. The show opened with what we all wanted (a look at the new Zelda) and we got our first official look at the successor to the DS.

E3 2010: Microsoft Press Conference Impressions

Up first for my series of E3 Impressions is Microsoft. You can watch the press conference for yourself right here courtesy of G4; it is also available on IGN. Overall, Microsoft did what I thought it do, push Natal, now officially Kinect for Xbox 360. The games line up was solid mostly, and there is only one thing I didn’t care for all that much. To find out what keep reading ->.

Your memory will always “live long and prosper…”

Posted by Zasalamel on June 14, 2010

In light of the recent death in my family, my E3 Day One reflections and comments on Microsoft’s press conference (once I see it) will posted as soon as I can get it together. I believe Nintendo is up tomorrow, but also have class, so it may be Wednesday before my E3 posts get going.

Death Doesn’t Divide…It Unites

You wouldn’t think death does that to people, but it does. At least it does when it’s your family. Read the rest of this entry »

Finished Track – “Transform”

Posted by Zasalamel on June 12, 2010

This past Thanksgiving I posted a preview track of some stuff I was working on. I finished it:

“Transform” – Nu Style feat. Chris Brown and Swizz Beats

*** “I Can Transform Ya” Performed by Chris Brown featuring Lil’ Wayne and Swizz Beats is in no way mine, but that beat was begging for me to jump on it and Wayne’s verses suck… ***

rand()thoughts: Fantasy Roster, Part 2

Posted by Zasalamel on June 12, 2010

We had a visit from FEMA today (Friday), and I got sidetracked afterward with a Yu-Gi-Oh! session. In any event, here’s another E3 inspired rand()thoughts special!

There are several rather big titles to be showcased at E3 this year, and many have been announced already. One of those hotly anticipated titles is Capcom’s Marvel Vs Capcom 3. Announced back in April, MvC3 is sure to be a crowd-pleaser and the fact that we’ll likely have to wait until next spring to really play it will certainly make many a fanboy depressed. In the meantime, I can’t help but notice how active the Vs. franchise has been out of Capcom lately, what with MvC2 remastered and remixed in HD and the release of Tatsunoko Vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars. At the same time, Marvel has been pretty busy too. Then, the thought hit me: what if Capcom picked up another license and made one of my personal fantasy fighters…? Well, let’s find out with this fantasy roster for “Marvel vs Toei.”

Toku Tuesday/rand()thoughts: Fantasy Roster, Part 1

Posted by Zasalamel on June 9, 2010

I just got off work, and I’ve been thinking about this all day. I’m sure another long session of soul searching will go into this before I actually post this. “What?,” you ask? This – Tokusatsu Tuesday #31, Vol. 2 Iss. 15, an E3 inspired rand()thoughts special!

rand()thoughts: E3 2010 Nintendo Preview

Posted by Zasalamel on June 7, 2010

E3 logoIn just one week, the gaming industry will swamp LA for the 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo – E3. This year looks to be a big year for each of the industry’s biggest competitors as Microsoft and Sony both look to prepare the masses for the coming release of their respective motion control devices and Nintendo looks to show up the HD rivals attempts at 3D hardware with its own, portable 3D hand-held. Several big games are confirmed to make an E3 appearance, and there will surely be a few surprises. As I won’t be attending in person, I hope to do some coverage of my own here at home, commentating and spreading the word on interesting happenings that go down this year.

So, to get prepared for the grand event, I’ll just quickly share a few of the upcoming highlights expected from each of the major players at this year’s Expo that have already caught my eye, tidbits pretty much everyone should be looking forward to. I’ll start with Nintendo:

Aside from a wicked teaser featuring the lovely Samus Aran, Nintendo kinda dropped the ball last year. Despite how disappointing that is, I can’t say I was not expecting that to happen. To Nintendo’s credit, the Wii was still selling ridiculously well and the DS had long since buried the PSP (with Sony’s help, but just saying). This year, however, sales for both consoles are down and the arrival of E3 always means the hardcore crowd wants to see some real hardcore centric content. Nintendo may just deliver this year – at least as far as the content goes, it’s always been short on the presentational flare…
